Abstract
The report provides insights into the life journeys of transformative women leaders through in-depth interviews with 19 women leaders from across the Asia and Pacific region. The leaders have inspired change in diverse areas including disability, economic empowerment, grassroots community development, human rights and law, labour rights and trade unions, local governance, peace and security, public health, public sector reform, rural development and livelihoods, urban development and housing, women’s empowerment and youth. Through the trajectories voiced by those interviewed, the report highlights pathways through which women have become influential leaders and overcame barriers they face. The report provides summaries of the interviews that fed into and complement the ESCAP report on “Pathways to Influence: Promoting Transformative Women’s Leadership to Achieve the SDGs in Asia and the Pacific” (2019).
